For Brandy Guinup, baking wasn’t just a hobby — it was a path to healing.
After suffering a severe hip injury that left her struggling to stand or walk, Brandy faced unimaginable pain and uncertainty. But somewhere in that hardship, she discovered an unexpected source of strength — the rhythm of baking bread. Each day, she pushed herself a little further, standing longer, kneading dough, shaping loaves, and rediscovering her ability to move through perseverance and faith. What began as therapy for her body became healing for her spirit.
The art of sourdough became her lifeline — the patience of fermentation, the scent of freshly baked loaves, and the reward of seeing life rise from the simplest of ingredients. It was in those quiet moments, covered in flour, that Brandy found her purpose again.
Her home property, nestled near a small creek that seemed to come alive with every season, became the heart of her inspiration. The sound of water moving over stones — steady, alive, and enduring — mirrored her own journey of recovery. That’s where the name Hutch Creek Sourdough Co. was born: a tribute to resilience, renewal, and the beauty that comes from patience and persistence.
Today, Hutch Creek Sourdough Co. is a woman-owned, family-run bakery, operated by Brandy and her daughter, Danica. Together, they pour love and dedication into every loaf, every pastry, and every meal that leaves their kitchen. What started as one woman’s way to find her strength has grown into a business that nourishes an entire community — body and soul.
